about

David put together a four-piece band of fantastic musicians to record this collection of art-rock pieces with hints of prog and jazz..

The album develops the progressive elements touched upon in 2008's Modern Mediaeval with ambition and punch.

While never letting go of the importance of writing a good song, David stretches and spices his compositions with rapidly changing time signatures and subtle key changes.

Features the 10 minute opus 'Good Hope'.

Track Name: New Deal
Remember when we sat around cross-legged in the dark?
We took the floor waiting for our favourite sound
Jump up, kiss the one we love and more
The sound is getting better now
Perfect spin and wily ways to win
I wonder what they’re doing now
Are they happy in their bones and skin?

There’s time to expand and there’s time to be brief
They’ve all looked everywhere – above and beneath
You desperately try to deny the new deal
But it’s here and it’s ready for you
Jump off the wheel

We were born with pretty heads
Everything in place to see and hear
Yes, we were born with pretty heads
Empty as our stomachs and our tears
The wind was blowing in the street
Last night you saw angels in the breeze
They shook your hand and made demands
I don’t believe I‘ll take them seriously

Here’s the new deal
Let me break it to you
Here’s the new deal
Take a jump off the wheel
Here’s the new deal
Let me break it to you
Here’s the new deal
Track Name: Believe Me
Believe me
Believe me you’ll know who I am
Come near me, speak freely
I’ll tell all that I can
Refine me, confine me - take on full command
Believe me, I want you to all understand

Let there be no unanswered questions
Ask them all right now
If you’ve got any strong emotion
Let there be no doubt
If we’ve said “ I don’t want to see you”
“I don’t need you, you don’t need me”
Let’s wipe the slate and celebrate

Believe me, receive me
Selfless with no greed
Impound me and ground me
Dissect all you need
Enrol me, cajole me
I’m here to take heed
Impel me, compel me
Dig in til I bleed

We coincide on the timeline - take opportunity’s hand
Colour in my life in shades that no-one else can
I want to befriend, not betray you
You can expect the same from me
Let us depart with a pure heart

Believe me, you’ll see me for all that I am
Come near me, be near me, I’ll give all I can
Distill me, instill in me your fears and concerns
We’ll travel, unravel, leave no stone unturned

Muster up and take bold decisions
We’ll both clarify
Disentangle the tiresome riddles
Throw light on our lives
Deny rank to all diary keepers
This is between you and me
Go remonstrate, we’ll put things straight

Believe me, you’ll see me for all that I am
Come near me, speak freely - I’ll tell all that I can
Refine me, confide in me
Take on full command
No more clues, I want you to all understand

Believe me
